Work Experience
I started out this process we call a career as a very talented but, out-of work photography/design school graduate. I quickly learned that if you want to eat…you had better learn to adapt. That is my story and ultimately my strength.
I landed a job as the “Production Manager ” of a record manufacturing company in Nashville called United Record Pressing. The title should have been “entire staff of production.” I was the production department. I learned all of the processes of producing a record label and did them all. Designed, striped, pre-pressed, plated, printed and finished the label so it could be put on a record upstairs. This was one of the best teaching moments of my life…then, it got boring.
I moved on to a small printing business as a designer and pre-press
operator in Franklin. This was a super fast paced job that required you to think on your feet, learn quickly and create “work-arounds” to keep the presses humming in the back. Down and dirty, get it done. I cut my teeth on all of the programs that I thought I knew how to use in school. This was fun. Then the time came for me to move on to another growth opportunity.
Klatt2Design hired me to basically be a production artist. I knew how to crank out designs and get big projects done on time, including those last minute revisions that are all too often the case in the fast paced and ever-changing business world. That soon transitioned into developing new ways and processes for our clients, including e-marketing and website design. I learned how to communicate with the technical folks and the clients. I also began producing photography and videos for our clients. If they ask for it, I can figure out how to make it happen.
My goal is to continue to grow and learn new skills that will enable my clients to continue to say, “Call David, he can figure this out”.

Klatt2Design is a full service graphic design and marketing firm based in Franklin, TN. We service national brands and small local business. My role at Klatt2Design has many facets. I do everything from concept development and graphic design to eMarketing and web design. I also handle all photography and video production. As Technical Services Director, I bridge the gap between the technical side of things and meeting the expectations of the client.
